Dear Colleagues,
Connected Kansas Kids (CKK) offers no cost interactive distance
learning presentations to schools. There are two strands of
presentations for schools:
1. Staff Development
2. Student Focused
1. Staff Development presentations are designed for educators,
administrators, school nurses, paraprofessionals and other education
staff. The purpose of CKK Staff Development series is to offer
education professionals the opportunity to gain helpful information
about issues that may affect student learning such as chronic physical
health conditions, chronic mental health conditions such as depression
and anxiety, special education needs, and other factors (i.e. grief,
bullying, school avoidance, etc.) which may adversely affect students'
achievement.
2. Student Focused presentations provide educational topics for
students on areas of interest in health and health careers. Health
topics include Diet and Exercise, Protect Your Bones and Joints, Obesity
and Diabetes; etc. Health Careers presentations have focused on health
care teams in Rehabilitation Medicine, Orthopedics, Pediatrics and many
more. Presentations can be formatted for students from grades 5- 12.
CKK will work with you to provide topics of your choice, whenever
possible. Presentations are offered by physicians, nurses, dietitians,
physical and occupational therapists, social workers, respiratory
therapists, clinical lab scientists and other health care professionals.
Please let me know if there is a topic of interest, related to health
or health care, that would benefit your students.
Presentations are provided over interactive televideo/interactive
distance learning equipment at your school, library or local hospital.
A few slots are reserved for live presentations to schools that do not
have ITV capability or which are in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
I look forward to working with you and your students in the coming
months. Please contact me with any questions, suggestions or areas of
interest in health care presentations for students or faculty.
Sincerely,
Kathy
